Photo Stories
Photo stories are stories told with photos which sounds pretty obvious but they are a little more complex than that. The writer may alter the images used to try and to convey a message they want the viewer to see. Photo stories can have little to no text accompanying the images or they can have paragraphs along with them. A photo story that I enjoyed looking at was "12 Food Orders and the People Who Delivered Them". This photo story shows a chain of images of delivery people in New York. A photographer named Young Jang conducted an experiment where she ordered food from a variety of restaurants and when her food was delivered she would ask to take a photo of the employee and ask a few questions relating to the customers they get.
From this image alone I was able to see that they are a variety of people that are employed as delivery drivers in New York. Each image had a small amount of text with telling how old the employee was, where they are from, where they work, and what Young ordered and the price of it. At the end of the article were these statistics.
What I got from this photo story is that there is a large variety of people working in this field so to speak and are not treated the best. I find interesting that most people see delivery men/women all the time but barely know anything about them and most of the time don't ask about them. I get the sense that this article is trying to support this workforce in New York.
Another photo story I found interesting was the Aging Inmates by Jessica Earnshaw. Aging prisoners is something I never really thought of and it does bring up a lot of questions. For example, the medical costs in prisons would increase due to aging. I feel that Jessica Earnshaw is trying to sympathize with these inmates and I think she does a good job with her images and also adding captions to them. For example, the image below makes that inmate look harmless as it is an elderly man in a wheelchair.

Jessica Earnshaw tells her story of visiting these elderly inmates through the use of images and text. She talks about how she had very positive interactions with these aging inmates and it adds to her stance on the matter.
